At American Pride, we use thermoforming to create our client’s products.
What exactly is thermoforming? It’s the process of taking a heated plastic sheet and forming it to a mold. Vacuum forming and pressure forming are two popular types of thermoforming. The process can offer some great advantages, including:
- Low costs (when compared to injection molding)
- Quick development and prototype production
- More color and texture options
- Easy design modification
Thermoformed products can be found across a number of industries, including aerospace, automotive, construction, medical, office supply and transportation.
At American Pride, we specialize in providing an avenue for small businesses to bring their business ideas to life. For Kickstarter projects or small businesses, injection molding costs can be prohibitive, standing between your idea and the ability to hold your product in your hands. That’s where American Pride comes in.
We’ll work with you to develop the mold for your concept. We will typically first build a simple mold and send the prototype to you for review and approval. We will then design a CNC file of your mold for final mold production on the CNC table (a computer-controlled cutting machine). We use thermoforming processes to heat the material to 350°F, and then either inject form, vacuum form or press the material to the shape of your product.
You aren’t required to purchase the mold from us. Instead, American Pride will retain ownership, which is why we absorb the associated costs, and why our company is the smart, economical choice for start-ups and other small businesses. You can always buy the mold from us at a later date if you wish. You also have the option to white label your products, with your own branding incorporated into the product design.
During the time we retain the mold, you can rest assured that we will not duplicate your design for use with another client! We simply want to help you bring your product to life. Retaining the mold is a cost-effective way of achieving that goal, and we consider it an investment in our customers and the start of building a long-term relationship.
If you ever outgrow the production capabilities of American Pride, or decide to move production overseas, we have industry contacts we can connect you with to take your production to the next level.
Other companies often have minimum order requirements, which can also be cost prohibitive for businesses. We don’t. If you’re ordering 10 pieces or 10,000, you’ll get the exact same level of professionalism and consideration from the team at American Pride. All of the products we manufacture are hand-formed, folded, assembled and finished with pride. With American Pride.
